Your Help Becomes Hope
Mini is Mighty
Mini was handed off in the parking lot of NHS. Her owners simply said "We can no longer keep her," and drove off. The staffer she was handed to tried to get them to fill out paperwork, but in the end, just got her name.
After exam, Mini was coughing heavily. She was treated for kennel cough, but there was little change. X-rays confirmed what the vets had suspected...she has a collapsing trachea, which will likely never get better. She had severe dental disease, so our vets pulled most of her teeth. And she appears to be about 12 years old.
I could not leave this bean in a kennel. I fostered her and then adopted her. She currently has a good quality of life. She loves her "Little Ceasars" food, bouncing down the hallway to my office, burrowing under the covers and snoring. I will be her last home!
I love NHS because we don't turn away animals. We rescue, rehabilitate and rehome all we possibly can. It isn't cheap, or easy, but it's the right thing to do.
Our Walk for the Animals is coming up September 30th. It's a chance for our community to rally and support shelter efforts. There is strength in numbers, so with everyone giving just a little, we can help all the "Mini's" get second chances.
Thank you for considering a gift. You're the Best!
