The Nebraska Humane Society’s Forever Home Program is a privately funded initiative, providing temporary financial assistance to pet owners in need. The goal of the fund is to keep pets in their homes and help responsible owners from unnecessarily surrendering a beloved pet.
Funding is limited, so the following requirements must be met:
• Pet owner and animal(s) must reside within NHS’s jurisdiction: Omaha, Waterloo, Offutt, Bellevue, LaVista, Gretna, Ralston, Papillion, Springfield and Unincorporated Sarpy County.
• Animal(s) must be licensed, prior to or at the time services are provided.
• Pet owner must provide verification of hardship/crisis (food stamps, Medicaid, disability, unemployment or other). Verification can be accepted from social service agencies.
• Owner will be asked by NHS to make a financial contribution toward pet’s treatment.
• One time use per pet.
