Nebraska Humane Society Internship Program

About the Program
In recent years the Nebraska Humane Society has introduced a wonderful training opportunity in the form of an internship program. The program touches on various points of interest in the Shelter, including Animal Care, Animal Medical, and Behavior. We would like to send this letter out to various program instructors to pass along this information to students that may have interest in intern opportunities related to these areas of interest.

The internship is an unpaid opportunity to students who are currently over the age of eighteen years, and is enrolled in an academic program at a college or university. Due to nature of the program, we ask that students commit to at least ten hours of service per week, for approximately three months. Opportunities are available during the summer as well as the fall and spring semesters.

There are several unique opportunities available in the shelter. Each opportunity allows for students to explore areas of personal interest, while gaining real-world career skills. Each unique internship opportunity at the shelter is designed to enhance the ability to work with the general public and various species of animals.

From each applicant, we  would  like  a cover  letter  explaining   their credentials and career goals, at least two references, your school’s requirement for independent study ( if applicable), and the completed application.
