Sometimes you think you know what you want, but don't really know. We weren't looking for Zeda, but we are so thankful we found her.

A week ago, my brother, sister and I went in to the Humane Society to "just look." We knew the likelihood of us finding the dog my dad decided he wanted was low. We all wanted a dog, but my dad had one specific dog in mind. After watching the movie with a Lab called "Christmas," that was all my dad wanted. We decided to go look and see. Well, there weren't any golden labs. However, we found a very cute black mixed Lab. We sent a picture and our dad said we should meet her. We spoke to the volunteer and determined that we wouldn't be a good fit. My sister got very sad and decided we probably weren't going to find what we wanted. We then went back to one of the first dogs we looked at. This time she came over to greet us. She was a beautiful black and brown Rottweiler Labrador Retriever mix. She was quite a bit older than we were hoping. We spoke to another nice volunteer about this dog's history. Her name was Zeda and she had supposedly had an incident and bit a child who was messing with her and her food. This made us hesitant, but otherwise she sounded pretty good. We sent my parents a picture and told them all about her. Then we met her. She was perfect. She didn't even seem like she was very old. We all knew she was the one. She seemed to know it too. While we were going through the adoption process, everyone who saw her wanted to pet her. She was so polite. Now, a week later, and all is wonderful. We can't believe she was there at the Humane Society, not only this time, but also when she was younger. She has now been to the vet and she was perfect. More importantly, in great health. She is loved by the whole family (there's 6 of us, 5 in the house). And my dad is completely head over heels for her. While we know we will not have as much time with Zeda as we want, it would never have been enough. We know we have been blessed with this amazing creature.
