"Oso" Perfect Oso finds a home!! My wife, two teenage boys and I finally decided to look for a dog. We've had cats for about 20 years but the boys were always hinting at getting a dog. My wife decided the time was right to take a look at NHS. After several visits to the website and a few visits to the center, we saw Oso on the page. We thought his picture looked adorable and his description sounded exactly like what we wanted in a pooch. My wife and I stopped on a Friday after a long day of Christmas shopping and to our dismay, Oso's cage had an "Adoption Pending" sign on it. We were both very disappointed but decided to ask about him anyway. We were in luck! Our adoption counselor said the sign was there in error and he was available. (I think it was in fact a sign that Oso was being saved for us!) After taking him to the front to be adopted, the worker at the desk made an announcement that Oso had found a new family. Volunteers came out of the woodwork to say their goodbyes since he had been there for quite some time. On our way home, we were hoping his description was true about getting along with cats as we still have two. Well upon arrival, the cats were not very pleased but they're slowly coming around and have begun to forgive us and accept Oso. As for Oso, he is absolutely awesome! He became comfortable right away. He sits and shakes. He loves being brushed, going on multiple walks during the day and he loves his trips to the dog park. He is the biggest sweetheart and a great addition to our family and our sons adore him! We decided to keep the name after learning it means "bear" in Spanish ... and he is just that, a huge teddy bear! Thank you Nebraska Humane Society! |
