One year ago in November we saw this sad dog at the Humane Society and knew we had to save him...
...Little did we know later he would save us.
His name was Uncle Willy - 15 year old schnauzer - a little too big for a mini but too small for a standard, His family had to give him up because they were going to an assisted home and could not bring him with them. Uncle Willy had to go through some medical procedures to include getting majority of his teeth pulled, he was having problems seeing and was just sad and depressed.
We knew we wanted to make sure he had a comfortable life and maybe our two mini schnauzers who were 2 at the time would keep him young.
We changed his name to Willy - actually he is such a gentlemen that we will call him Willard or Mr Willard. He makes us laugh and barks (yells) at the kids when they get to be too much and rowdy. Where we thought he might not make it through the winter, he is going strong and I swear he is immortal.
He is 16 years old now. We took him in for his yearly and he is doing great. His bones are having problems and isn't that to be expected? In human years he's a ripe old age of 90. But there are those days when you wouldn't think so, because he does like to run around the yard with the little ones.
If you want a dog that knows their manners, already house broken, and majority of the time just wants to cuddle. Adopt a Senior Dog. They are wonderful.
