FInding Kippers Mcgee

A story about how we found the love of our family!

On May 1st 2013, my fiancé, Ian, and I moved into our very first, and brand new, house. After getting settled in and unpacked, we quickly realized that houses get very lonely when no one else is home! After I had had a long and stressful day, Ian came home and told me we were going for a drive. While driving I asked where we were headed & he answered "We're headed to look at puppies!" As expected I was so excited! Both Ian and I had been looking at a few different breeders for puppies for about a month or so but could never make up our mind on one certain breed. Both Ian and I had only ever raised puppies.
We pulled up to the NHS around 5:30pm and I couldn't have been more anxious. Although we had been thinking about different puppies, we never had actually decided that we were going to bring one home. When we walked into NHS it was packed (it was buy one get one on cats/kittens). Ian and I walked through the dog hallway and took interest in a couple of different dogs, that was until we walked past Kipper. Kipper was laying against his cage with his long black fur sticking through the wires. After turning him around and calling his name, he came over to say hello. Kip continued to lick us through the cage and loved all the attention he was receiving from our love. Kip was 6 years old and therefore discounted. While everyone else was looking at the puppies and younger dogs, we found ourselves (a young couple) falling for such a cute old man!
Ian & I were the last people to get our application in for the day. We spent only 5 minutes in the room with the wonderful adoption agent and meeting Kip. We just knew right away that we loved him and couldn't imagine him not coming home with us! Kip (now called Kippers Mcgee fully) has been the absolute best addition to our family. I have never met a better behaved, loving, or sweet boy. Since bringing Kip home, Kip continues to enjoy sleeping on the beds despite our request, lounging on top of our fireplace, and chewing on his favorite rawhide bone. It was fate that we found this new member of our family that day,and we will forever be thankful to NHS for matching us!
