Charlie's Forever Home Megan and I always wanted a dog... Megan and I always wanted a dog. One we could share our home with. One to come home to. One to share our fun experiences with. One to love. But not just any dog. We wanted a dog who was in need of someone to love it. When I went to the Nebraska Humane Society, I went with the intention of looking around, not planning to adopt that day. That's when I saw Charlie. I noticed her in particular because she was curled up in a ball as far away from the cage door as possible. When I called her name, she slowly lifted up her head, looked at me and laid her head back down. I knew she was sad. Sad that she had been left there. When I took her out for a meet and greet, she was nervous but slowly warmed up to me and I could tell she felt safe in our presence. I had Megan come and meet her and we both knew she was the one. When we walked out of the Humane Society she could hardly contain herself. She was jumping for joy and scrambling faster than her feet could carry her to get to our car. With some tender loving care she is now our prized possession. She stays by our side at all times and is eager to please us. She loves car rides and the dog park. She has the biggest personality and is always willing to give out "hugs". I was always worried that a rescue dog would not connect with us the way a puppy would, but I was wrong. She loves us even more than a puppy because we are the ones who picked her to come live with us in her forever home. |
