Finding The Boof-meister Two years ago in mid-November I went to NHS looking for a new best buddy. I was really looking for a young adult dog as I didn't want the care and maintenance of a small puppy again. I had been to NHS several times in the preceding month with no luck. A week or so prior, NHS had featured a picture of a litter of 5 red puppies that were adorable but again, I really wasn't looking for a puppy and all that it would entail (pun intended!) ... so on this trip, again I did not find the adult dog of my dreams - HOWEVER there was one puppy left from the 5 basket litter of red pups I had seen on the NHS web site. One lone little face, sleeping on his little blue blanket. After looking at a couple of adult dogs I hesitantly said, "What about that little red dog? The puppy. What's his story?" They told me that he was, indeed, one of the 5 puppies featured the week before and he was the last one left (behind). The whole litter had been abandoned in Papillion, I found out to my shock and horror. I wanted to see him and of course, when I did, fell in love. |
