"We wanted a dog, what we got was a companion, who is the guardian of our family"

My parents, brother and I adopted Tyson from the Nebraska Humane Society about a year ago and I have to say that it was the best decision we could have made.

Tyson isn't just some dog, he's part of the family. As well as being able to lay anywhere he wants (that includes right in the middle of the floor, in our way), and will personally give us a look that says "Can I help you?" if we need to get by. He is LOVED so much!!! And while he would rather lay on the floor in the living room with the family, he also has a huge fenced in back yard, that's ALL his, and his alone (just ask the neighborhood dogs) Tyson is gentle, affectionate, caring, and a watchful protector, who makes sure the baby in the family is safe, and out of harms way. But while he is laid back, he does have some rules: Rule # 1- If you have food, you will give me a bite, I don't care how long I have to beg (and with my cute face, it shouldn't take too long). Rule # 2- If its daytime, I will be in the house, watching everything that goes on. Rule # 3- If someone enters the house, I must sniff them to make sure they are safe, its for your own good. Rule # 4- I don't mind cats, but never give them more attention then me. Rule # 5 Baths are a No No, if you want to get me clean, prepare yourself! Rule # 6- No leaving the house, without petting me, if you fail, I will be sad and pout (which I know we both don't want). Rule # 7- No one is allowed to come near my fence! If they want to meet me, they can come to the door, and introduce themselves properly.Rule # 8- It is my duty to protect my family, and that includes making sure everyone stays in line during an argument. Rule # 9- If a baby wants to say hello, that's more than fine, just as long as I can kiss them once or twice. And finally Rule # 10- Every time you enter the house, you must stand still until I have completely sniffed you, and everything you are carrying...cause I need to make sure you are alright (as well as see if you brought me any goodies). To sum it all up, Tyson is a wonderful dog, that knows what he wants. We love him so much, and can't wait to see what he has in store for the future. Oh, and thank you to the Nebraska Humane Society for helping us, and for taking care of him, while he was there. I was very pleased with the service, and wish I could volunteer there, but now we are in SC (Tyson loved the trip -So Many Smells-). Keep up the good work!!! P.S- To the previous owners of Tyson, I hope you are doing well, and I hope you find happiness in knowing that he is safe :)
