Riley the Extraordinaire!  We found Riley at the NHS Omaha back in October... I went there "just to look" and wasn't planning on bringing anyone home... but when we met Riley I knew he was something special. After spending some time with him there in your great facility I decided I HAD to bring him home. I CANNOT tell you how glad I am that I did. Riley has been the perfect addition to our family! He is calm in the house, sweet to everyone and very smart/food motivated. In the last few months we've taught him to rollover, high five, speak, crawl, jump, play dead, leave it/take it.... And the list keeps growing. We call it his "routine" and he loves doing it every day. ANYTHING for a treat! He not only brings my family daily joy but he cheers up and wins the heart of everyone he meets. We constantly get compliments on what a great dog he is and we ALWAYS mention that he was a "pound pup" and that we adopted him from the NHS. Most people honestly can't believe it. Because of Riley's wonderful temperament we are looking into getting him Therapy Dog certified soon, and would like to visit retirement homes and hospitals to share him with people who could really use some unconditional love. To us it feels like he is one in a million but I know there are lots more great dogs like him just waiting to be adopted. I hope more people choose to adopt. Thank you all for what you do to give these animals another chance at a good life. |
