Our perfect dog!

When my husband and I moved in together we decided we wanted a dog...

I went down alone to see the dogs that were available for adoption and while I was walking around this frighteningly thin dog named Kincaid just melted my heart when I saw him. I had originally come to meet a different dog and when that dog didn't work out (I had a cat and that dog hated cats) I decided to have them bring in Kincaid so I could meet him. He immediately jumped up with both paws on my lap and put his head against my chest (while holding a toy of course). I was lost for good! So I brought him home that day and surprised my husband! Within minutes of meeting him my husband fell in love with him too. He was barely 40 pounds when I took him home. I could see every rib, his whole spine and his hip bones. I decided that I was going to fatten this dog up and love him til he couldn't stand it anymore :) A few days after we got him home he had an accident on the floor because he was sick...when my husband and I woke up to see if he was ok he hid from us. He thought we were going to hurt him! I just about bawled like a baby. I grabbed him and held him on my lap and pet him so he wouldn't be afraid anymore. My heart truly broke for him in that moment. It has been a year since we adopted him and I can't even begin to explain how much I love him and how big of an impact he has made on my husband and I. He is now 70 pounds and the happiest dog you can imagine. He will play fetch until he drops and then he will snuggle up with his head on my chest and snore like a human. He sometimes forgets that he's a dog and not a person haha. This is our first dog together and my husband and I have decided to adopt from now on. I don't understand how someone could let a dog deteriorate the way someone did with Kincaid. I am so glad I have him now and I can show him what real love is and that he will never be hungry or afraid again. Thank you to the humane society for working to give dogs like Kincaid a loving home. I am so blessed to have Kincaid in my life.
