Hemingway the Polydactyl Nebelung kitty.

On Halloween 2011, a little grey unusual kitten came into our lives

On Halloween 2011 my husband and I went to the Nebraska Humane Society to "just look". Right before we decided to leave my husband's eye was caught on an unusual grey kitten with huge paws. We asked to see the kitten and when the volunteer brought, Gargamel (his name at the time), in she said he was a polydactyl cat. Which means that he has a genetic mutation that gives him more toes than a normal kitten/cat should have. He had extra toes on both front paws and hind paws, which is very rare. He was so energetic and cute i just couldn't leave him behind, so we took him home. We did research when we got home on polydactyl cats and also to find out his breed. We came across on the web the Ernest Hemingway loved these cats and we decided his name should be Hemingway (Hemi for short). We also found out that Hemi was a Nebelung breed. This explains why he is so much like a dog. We have 2 dogs a beagle named Snoopy & a lab/borde4r collie mix named Harley. Hemi loves his dog brothers so much. Hemi Sleeps, plays, cuddles, drinks, eats and waits by the door (for my husband to come home) with Snoopy & Harley. He even goes outside to play and use the bathroom and then comes right back in. Hemi is definitely a character and I am so glad that my husband and I went to the humane society to "just look". He's the sweetest unusual dogkitty I know.
