We Are the Lucky Ones

After losing our Border Collie, Newby, of 13 years this past winter, I didn't think I could ever love another dog again...

...But I was wrong. Visiting the Humane Society website "just to look", I came across a Border Collie. I had to see her. I drove to the Humane Society that day to see this dog. She had a "sister" that had been with her for four years so they needed to be adopted together. Two dogs! That day, and for the next four days, I sat on the floor outside their kennel and cried because my heart was so broken for them. OF COURSE MY HUSBAND WAS OUT OF TOWN! To make a long story short, WE adopted Bella, a Border Collie and Emma, a Flat Coated Retriever. They are delightful. We are in love with these dogs. They have bonded with us and we with them. Can't imagine our house without them. I had heard they had been surrendered because the owner's children had developed allergies to them. We just wanted them to know that they have found their forever home and that we are taking very good care of them. We will love them until they take their last breath. Thank you, Nebraska Humane Society, for taking such good care of them until we could find them. We are blessed!
