a second chance

I didn't think I would find what I was looking for

My daughter and I moved to Nebraska from Kentucky 2 years ago,my daughter has since moved out for college and I found myself lonely and depressed. We had a rescue dog when we lived in Ky but due to her health my vet there said that my beloved suzie would not survive the move.I humanely had her put to sleep,no one wanted her because she was very old. During the two years that we have lived here I wanted another "Suzie" she was 13 yrs old and was going to be a hard act to follow.I would search online, but did not get any heart tugging's from any of the photos that I saw when I was about to give up my seach I came across NHS and found a few possibles that I wanted to see in the flesh. My neighbor took me to NHS,but the dogs I wanted to look at were already adopted out. We went ahead to look at the dogs avalible for adoption and picked out the ones we wanted to visit with. The one that interested me the most would not look my way when I called her name. It was close to closing time at the shelter but I wanted to see a black and white little dog that would not even look at me,I looked at others but didn't feel a connection with any of them so I asked to see "Tina" again when they brought her in to the room the second time I knew that I wanted her.We are so much alike I knew that I needed her to come home with me to get endless amounts of love. Tina has not disappointed me,she loves to give kisses looks forward to our walks before I go to work and when I get home, even though she does'nt bark she will let me know when she needs something. She was slow and cautious when I brought her home, but has really come to life in the past two weeks. She loves her vet and has been given a clean bill of health. She does not like to walk on a lesh but will walk beside me when we are out.even though she is missing some teeth, she loves to chew on my fingers and plays with her squeaky toys. She loves fresh veggies and fruits as well as her soft dog food to promote her continued good health. Most people want puppies and young dogs, but I am one to tell you that senior dogs gives lots of love, most already know not to do their business in the house and you don't have to worry about them chewing your house up when you are at work. I leave my TV on while I am gone so Tina isn't lonely she has become attached to my Packers blanket that she sleeps on in my bed and will drag it around the house. Thank You Nebraska Humnae Society for giving us both a second chance. Sherri L. Farrar Ralston Ne.
