Brown Eyes

Adoption tradition

Our dog Claire was adopted from the Nebraska Humaine Society back in 2000, towards the end of her long happy life we decided to get another dog so she would have some company, we choose Lilly a 1 year old Rottweiler mix. As we walked down the row of seemingly endless kennels we saw a couple cute puppies, and a few older but just as cute dogs. We were almost to the last kennel when I first set eyes on Lilly I remember her huge brown eyes. She was cuddled in the corner of her kennel shaking, she was a very shy girl, they assumed she was abused. She never did come over to us while in her kennel, but once we got her in the meeting room she opened just a slight bit. We decided on the spot she was the one. When we took her home Claire was a little upset, but soon cuddled up by lilly everytime they would sleep. Claire soon passed away, and we miss her like crazy, but Lilly keeps some excitment in my family and I's lives, she is slowly opening up but is still very scared of new places, car rides, and fast movements, but we work on her everyday. We adopted "queen" in November her and Lilly are now bestfriends. Nebraska Hmumaine Society is a great place, and I think I will refuse to get an animal from any other pleace. R.I.P Claire we all love and miss you.
