Everyone Loves the "Blue Dog"

Mr. Blue transformed from scruffy to stunning!

I met Blue at the Nebraska Humane Society. I had been looking and interested in a white female husky that had just gotten adopted. She had a beautiful temperament and so beautiful. She was 'perfect'. I watched her and her new family walk to their vehicle and I turned around and our eyes met.
He looked like something Dr. Seuss would have written about. He was skinny, his fur was not very pretty, he was truly kind of funny looking. He pulled the dog walker toward me and put is paws on my shoulders and licked my face. "Ut oh, I'm in trouble". He was not perfect, but perfect for me.. He was heart-worm positive and pretty much a mess... He pulled horribly on leash and seemed to have zero ability to focus. Of course we adopted him and brought him home to our already full house of huskies.
We started feeding him high quality dog food. We worked hard to keep him calm until he was through his heart worm treatment. In that time, his fur started to soften and grow (and grow and grow) and he learned patience and how to focus and wait for a job to do.
We run the Siberian husky rescue in the area so many dogs visit our home on their way to their foster homes. He loves meeting all of them, it's his job and he knows it! He will play with dogs that our others ignore. He seems to go out of his way to include them and make them comfortable - after-all, he was once homeless and scared himself. He's earned his Canine Good Citizenship and is a perfect ambassador.
It's funny - we've had people meet him at various events and on more than one ask to BUY him ... One man said he'd give us $600 cash for him on the spot - Ha! crazy man, he didn't have enough in his 401K to take this special dog from us!
We are so thankful to the NHS for saving him and giving him a chance and treating him for the heart worm. He's doing better than great! He is our joy... and is one of the happiest dogs I know!
