Lexie f/k/a Forte

When I adopted Forte, my cat Buffy had been gone for about a month...

My heart was broken so I went to the humane society. I bawled for an hour, later that night, because having Lexie there to me was like admitting Buffy was never coming back (she never did). It's been a rocky first 8 months, with her having a really hard time adjusting to being in a new place, not wanting to be touched, hissing and biting at me if I tried, etc. I'm glad I didn't listen to my head, which was telling me to take her back, but rather my heart, which begged me to give her more time. She's still a scaredy-cat and jumps at sounds, but she climbs on my lap to sleep (especially when I stretch out -- we nap together) -- and she will occasionally let me pet her...on her terms, of course! She rarely purrs, which is really sad to me...I wish I knew her background and what happened to her before she arrived at the shelter.
Lexie is now a permanent addition...just ask her bestest buddy, Lucy. She also stands on tippy toes and rubs on my dog, Max, who's a cat lover :-)
Here's a picture of her taken while snoozing with Lucy (Lexie is the tortie -- Lucy the gray/white tabby.)
