My Soul-dog.

A little over 6 years ago, my life was devastated when my six month old son was killed. For two years I went through the heartache of losing him and numerous court dates to put his murderer in jail. One day in the summer of 2007, I decided it was about time to start trying to really heal, and decided that the one thing that could help me a lot, was having a dog of my own to help me through the journey.
I walked into the Humane Society with no idea if I would find my angel that day or not. Sure enough, I stumbled across a two year old Min-pin named Lola. As soon as I held her, I fell in love. She was the perfect size for apartment living, and it just so happened, she was right around the same age that my son would have been. After trying to get a hold of my landlord before someone else could take her home (there was a family looking at her at the same time I was on the phone!) I finally was approved to have her.
It's been 5 years now since we've been best friends, and I could not have every hoped for anyone more perfect than her. She makes me laugh, listens to my stories, even cuddles with me when I'm sad. We've been through just about everything together: late night visits to the emergency vet after large consumptions of Easter candy, failed relationships, numerous moves, other dogs living in our house, horrible outfits, seizures, cats, and even graduating college! She has an amazing personality and is so smart that she even perplexes me sometimes!
She has helped me heal and grow more than anyone I have ever met in my life, and she is still the longest relationship I've ever maintained. She puts up with me through everything, and still gets extremely excited every time I come home, or she finds a blanket I just washed.
Thank you so much for helping my soul-dog and I find each other. Who knows where we'd each be with out each other.
