Gracie
I wasn't expecting to bring home a kitty when my husband and I ran to PetSmart for food and litter for the two male cats waiting at home.
But when he told me to go in and pet the klutzy little tabby who kept falling off her perch when I was talking to her, I desperately wanted to. I hesitated, though, and told him if I went in to pet her I WOULD come home with her. His response was that he knew, and he wanted me to go in and pet her.
So on December 1st, Miss Gracelyn came home with us. Surrendered once for accidents on the floor, we brought her home and knew she'd work for us. While she's still hit or miss with the litter box after her first week, she is learning. 7-year-old Guinness (our first Nebraska Humane Society adoption) and 5-year-old Little Guy (a stray who was brought from Washington State by my parents) were hesitant at first, but they're coming around quickly. Gracie and Little Guy are often found together now.
I am thrilled to be able to save this little lady, and considering some of the bad news that we've received at home regarding the health of both myself and my husband in the last few months ... she is just the cheer we need. EVERYthing in the house is something to play with, and we laugh and play with her daily. She fits with us perfectly, and we couldn't be happier than when we get her Happy Kitty Face as she curls up on our laps.
