My Girls

Oreo and Emma two bundles of joy

I remember the first time I walked into the Humane Society after losing my beloved Kalli after 17 years. It took me awhile to get there - 15 months after her passing, but here I was.
The very first visit I made I saw her - my Oreo. She was tiny little thing - all black white a few white markings. She kept looking at me through the window and followed me with her eyes as I walked down the hallway.

I couldn't stop thinking about her, so went back for another visit the next day. She was still there and saw me again and this time started meowing and rubbing on the edge of her cage. She melted by heart right then. I went home and told my mother (who I lived with at the time) about this special kitty I saw. My mother wasn't very receptive to adoption as she had lost her kitty a few years previous after 18 years.

The next day to my surprise I got a call at work and my mother stopped at the Humane Society to see this little kitty that captured my heart. When I met her there, she had Oreo in a "get acquainted" room, so I joined them. I knew right away she belonged in the family and so did my mother.

The adoption agent, having seen our excitement with finding Oreo, decided to bring us another kitty to "meet". The first time my mother saw that sweet face, she knew we were going home with two kitties. Emma was a gentle, furry kitty who immediately took to us and also with Oreo.
Needless to say, we went home with two kitties that day and I can't tell you how much joy they have both brought to my life and to my mother's life while she was still alive.
